A viral interview video has captured the heartfelt admiration of an Indian female fan for Pakistani cricketer Iftikhar Ahmed.
In the run-up to the highly anticipated 2023 World Cup, Heer, an Indian fan from Punjab, openly declared her affection for the middle-order batsman, Iftikhar Ahmed, and even expressed her desire to marry him.
In the widely circulated interview clip on social media, Heer, a Dubai-based girl believed to be from Northern India, is seen wearing an Indian team jersey and holding a poster of her beloved cricketer. She affectionately referred to Ahmed as 'Chacha' and declared him as her favourite player in the national squad.
“You must have heard of him, he is called ‘Chacha(uncle)’, name is Iftikhar,” she said when asked about a Pakistani cricketer she would like to marry.
“He will be uncle to the world, but to me, he is Iftikhar janu.”
The video has quickly gone viral on social media platforms, and fans are forming opinions on Heer's display of affection.
The Pakistan men's team is presently in Hyderabad, India, gearing up for the ICC World Cup 2023, scheduled to take place from October 5 to November 19.
Pakistan's opening match in the tournament is set against the Netherlands on October 6, with the highly anticipated clash against arch-rivals India scheduled for October 14.
